After a marathon travel day and a few interesting travel moments (of course) we are now in Barcelona, but that's it for now..... sorry for the boring post! More tomorrow.... Gnite!
At 7am we left Ljubljana enroute to Maribor where we changed trains to get to Vienna. Thankfully the wheelchair was not too much of a problem at this point. However when we arrived in Vienna the train booking arrangements we were given put us on an inaccessible route so with the help of several other locals we hoisted Laurel on to the train anyway and made our way to the next stop where more locals strong-armed Laurel to the platform. At this point we tossed the itinerary we were given and made our way to the CAT (airport train) to make the last leg a bit easier for us. While on the train from Maribor a Chinese lady with a baby joined us in our carriage. Eventually we struck up a conversation and "Emily", originally from Xian, explained her circumstances of living in Vienna having moved several years ago from Guangzhou after marrying an Austrian or German fellow. When we explained our family situation to her she became emotional with "happy tears" that we had adopted and that we spoke so fondly of China. She helped us with directions in Vienna and after I gave her our contact info she texted me to make sure everything was OK. The rest of the travel from Vienna to Barcelona was uneventful. After arriving in Barcelona we struggled with some directions given to us by airport information on getting to our accommodations. this resulted in two complete tours of the shuttle bus route between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. We eventually got off the shuttle and on to the city transit to our Hostel accommodation. By this time the late hour forced a gourmet dinner of vending machine sandwiches and snacks! Wahoo!
